Have you ever sent an email in Outlook only to realize you made a mistake? If so, knowing how to unsend an email on Outlook can save you from embarrassment or miscommunication. Outlook provides a feature called Message Recall, which allows you to retract an unread email from the recipient’s inbox. However, this feature works only under specific conditions.

Steps to Unsend an Email in Outlook

Open Outlook: Launch Outlook and go to the Sent Items folder.

Select the Email: Double-click on the email you want to recall.

Click "File" > "Resend & Recall": Select Recall This Message from the dropdown menu.

Choose an Option: You can either delete the unread email or replace it with a corrected version.

Confirm the Action: Click OK to proceed.

Important Considerations

Works Only for Microsoft Exchange & Outlook 365 Accounts:

The recall feature does not work for Gmail, Yahoo, or other external emails.

Recipient Must Not Have Read the Email: If the email has already been opened, it cannot be unsent.

Both Users Must Be on the Same Server: Message recall only works within the same organization using Microsoft Exchange.

If message recall doesn’t work, you can send a follow-up email with corrections or enable the Undo Send option for future emails.
