Fildena 100 is a medication containing sildenafil citrate, which is commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction. It affects smooth muscle cells in the penis by inhibiting an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). Here's how it works in more detail:
Smooth Muscle Relaxation: When a man is sexually stimulated, nitric oxide (NO) is released in the penis, which activates an enzyme called guanylate cyclase. This enzyme increases the levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), a molecule that causes the smooth muscle cells in the penile arteries and corpus cavernosa to relax.
PDE5 Inhibition: In a healthy system, cGMP is broken down by the PDE5 enzyme. Fildena 100 mg inhibits PDE5, preventing the breakdown of cGMP. This results in prolonged smooth muscle relaxation and vasodilation (widening of the blood vessels), leading to improved blood flow to the penis.
Increased Blood Flow: The relaxation of smooth muscle and dilation of blood vessels allow more blood to flow into the penis, helping achieve and maintain an erection. This process is dependent on sexual stimulation, as Fildena only works when there is an arousal response.
By enhancing the effects of nitric oxide and preventing the degradation of cGMP, Fildena 100 effectively helps smooth muscle relaxation, facilitating an erection.
